Anna AtkinsThe cyanotypes process was used by Anna Atkins, in her 12 part book british about algae. Cyanotypes are one of the first photographs that didn't require a camera. It's fast and relatively easy to make a cynaotype. Atkins focused on plants.
The process works like this: You collect collect images and use paper coated in special chemicals and put the images on top. You then expose the paper to UV light "the sun" then soak the photograph in water which creates a blue image after the solution has been rinsed away. The blue back ground creates the impression of the water that the plants originated from. |
These are different types of cyanotypes made by a variety of other photographers. These are what cyanotypes are like today. |

This is my first image and my first time experiencing cyanotypes. I selected different objects and placed them on the paper and waited for a while until it turned a yellow colour after,i rinsed the photo of in water so that the chemicals were rinsed away, then left it to dry. It turned out well but my second image was better because i knew what to do.

The second attempt work out very well because it come out different shades and the objects was more clear. I done exactly the same steps as before but i moved out of the way because i was shading the photograph.
